Scouring browned sugar off a sheet pan or scrubbing overcooked egg off a skillet isn’t my idea of a fun time. Getting my stainless steel skillets and nonstick pans back to spotless was annoying, but there was extra dread when I had to scrape grease and burnt-on bits from my cherished cast iron cookware. Out came the baking soda, Bon Ami, and scrubbing sponge, and I would inevitably remove some of the cast iron’s seasoning, making a reseasoning necessary. After one such session, I finally sprung for OXO’s dish scrubber set and haven’t looked back.

As the years go on, my kitchen is slowly turning into an OXO showroom since all the products are so well-designed. The 2-in-1 citrus juicer is still tops in my book after over a year of use, and the chef’s mandoline was intimidating at first, but it really does make slicing easier while making my dishes look more professional and appealing.
Like almost all OXO products, the Good Grips Palm Brush is supremely comfortable, with a decent-sized rubber top that never gets slippery. There’s enough curve in the handle for anyone to get a good grip. Inside the handle is the soap well, and I’ve come to enjoy that built-in dispenser. I usually only need a quick push of soap to clean a whole sink full of dishes.
But the most important part is the bottom scrubber. The rows of nylon bristles are sturdy enough to loosen baked-on bits, even when trapped between the ridges of my Lodge grill pan, all without stripping my cast iron’s patina. Yet, the bristles are also pliable and can be easily used on my nonstick and ceramic cookware without damaging the delicate surface.
To help protect those bristles (and to keep my sink area a little neater), I have the drip tray, which is simple to empty and easy to clean. After all, who likes soap scum and water building up around the faucet? However, you can also get the dish scrubber on its own for $9. After six months of heavy use, the bristles are still in good condition, with only a few fraying and no smell or stains to speak of. But when the time comes, I can replace the bottom scrubber and the tool will be good as new.
