When I was in college, I learned how to scavenge to find the best, cheapest snacks to get me through the day. Of course, any dollar store was my go-to place. But the holy grail for inexpensive snacks, candies, and drinks was always Five Below.
In case you don’t know about the magic that is Five Below, let me fill you in: It’s a similar concept to Dollar Tree or Dollar General except most items are $5—or below! The store is known for its more gimmicky items, like cat ear headphones and slime-making kits, but there are some great hidden gems, including decor and clothing.
However, the one thing Five Below continually knocks out of the park is snacks. And there’s one item I gravitate towards again and again.
Why I Love Amos Peelerz Gummy Mango Candy

Anything involving mangoes is an immediate win for me, and Amos Peelerz Gummy Mango Candy is by far my favorite candy infused with this tropical fruit. Not only is a bag a fraction of the price at Five Below compared to other retailers, the gummies are just so darn good.
Peelerz Gummy Mango Candy went viral on social media last year, and I understand why. They are ridiculously soft and have a punchy mango flavor that honestly tastes like I’ve just cut into fresh fruit. A fun bonus: You can peel away at the candy! While the middle is soft and chewy, the peel is firmer and reminds me of taffy.
“It literally tastes like you’re biting into a fresh mango,” describes Instagram user @ahugandquiche after trying the candy, going on to say it’s “so soft, it just melts in your mouth.”
At Five Below, a 3-ounce bag of Peelerz Gummy Mango Candy retails for $1.50, which might be one of the cheapest goodies there. If you’re like me, you'll likely snag more than one—that's a whole lot of snacking for under 10 bucks.
