We love nothing more than when a fast food chain releases something that’s totally out of the box and unique. So when we saw Wendy’s latest burger, we could say with certainty that it is unlike anything we’ve seen at the drive-thru before. Wendy’s recently released a new Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger.
And before you try to tell us that Sonic and Five Guys have been doing grilled cheese burgers for years, you need to see how Wendy’s is serving its new burger up. Because, while Sonic and Five Guys have sold versions of “grilled cheese burgers,” those fast food options are really just patty melts served on a grilled bun or Texas toast.
Wendy’s new burger has a real grilled cheese sandwich on it. And not just one grilled cheese sandwich, but two.
Wendy's Launches New Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger
The new burger features a quarter pound of beef, caramelized onions, mayo, and a slice of cheese between two grilled cheese sandwiches that act as the buns. It seems like Wendy’s took a page from the KFC Double Down (a sandwich with two fried chicken patties as the bun) for its new menu offering.
The new cheesy burger may already have our mouths watering, but don’t start heading to the drive-thru just yet because the new Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger is only available at restaurants in Canada.
Wendy’s is celebrating a big milestone: 50 years of serving Canadian communities. So, to celebrate, the brand is releasing the new Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger across the country for a limited time.
But, before you shake your head, sigh, and think “all the good fast food items go to Canada,” we could see the Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger on U.S. menus in the future.

Are we reading into things? Maybe, but anything that might point to the U.S. getting the Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger next is worth reading into. Otherwise, who wants to take a road trip to Canada this summer?
