1 (15.25 ounce) box chocolate cake mix

1/2 cup butter (1 stick), cut into 16 slices
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Pour pie filling into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook’s Note
Stir 1/4 teaspoon almond extract into the pie filling for extra flavor if you like.
Spread cake mix evenly over the pie filling, taking care not to mix it into the fruit. Top evenly with butter slices.
Bake in the preheated oven until lightly golden brown and bubbly, about 45 minutes. Let stand at least 5 minutes before serving.
