Key Takeaways
- One of Trader Joe's most popular ice cream flavors is back, and it's the perfect frozen treat for summer.
- Fans should stock up on these new pints as the beloved flavor is sure to sell out again.
When we discovered that a favorite Trader Joe’s frozen treat was coming back, the first thing that came to mind was, “Oh, wow!”
Trader Joe’s is known for having desserts in its frozen aisle that are a “10 out of 10.” Whether you’re snatching up the new $5 dessert fans say they “need every night” or the sweet treat that shoppers voted number one in 2024, it’s always wise to have an insulated freezer bag with you when you shop at TJ’s.
And now you might want to take two insulated freezer bags with you next time so you can stock up on the treat that Allrecipes editor Bailey Fink said was “so good I couldn’t stop myself from going in for two, three, and four more spoonfuls” when she taste-tested it a couple of years ago.
That's right, Trader Joe's Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream is back, but only for a limited time.
Trader Joe’s Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream Returns to Stores
The most famous banana pudding in the world is arguably the version served at Magnolia Bakery, which is full of vanilla pudding, sliced bananas, and vanilla wafers. Trader Joe’s Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream seems to take inspiration from that famous dessert people line up for, but it goes one step further and adds salted caramel into the mix.
Banana pudding-flavored ice cream, vanilla wafer cookie pieces, salted caramel—it’s no wonder Bailey couldn’t help but go back for more.
Trader Joe’s hasn’t announced the return on social media, but eagle-eyed shoppers have already spotted it and are sounding the ice cream alarm on social media.
"Buying three because I was heart broken when they left last time LOL," said one shopper. Another fan chimed in with this ode, "I've been waiting all year for you."
When TJ’s announced the return last year on Instagram, the grocery brand declared the flavor “expertly evokes the taste of a sweet and creamy” banana pudding.
One commenter, clearly doing their weekly public service, shared an idea for the ice cream. “My daughter made ice cream sandwiches with the butter waffle cookies with this, banana pudding ice cream. It was soooooo good AND super easy.” (And now, in addition to the ice cream, we’re adding TJ’s Belgian Butter Waffle Cookies to our grocery lists.)
"Plz make this permanent," begged one fan. Another was more forceful, demanding, "Just make it permanent."
One person echoed what many of us were thinking as we read it, “Well, just when I thought I could go a week without going to Trader Joe’s.” But we’re used to that. There doesn’t seem to be a week that goes by without Trader Joe’s introducing a new product or bringing back a favorite that has us jumping in the car for an unplanned TJ’s run.
