Key Takeaways

  • Haribo is bringing one of its international favorite gummy candy blends to the U.S. for the first time.
  • Customers have been begging for this change for years.
  • The new candy mix is hitting retailer shelves nationwide now.

We all know Haribo as the number one gummy candy brand in America, thanks to its beloved Goldbears, Twin Snakes, and special edition candies, like the Harry Potter gummies and Football Mix. However, we can’t forget that the deliciously sweet, chewy candy was created in Bonn, Germany, and isn’t just the leading manufacturer of gummies in the U.S., but in the world.

As Americans, we’ve learned the hard way that many U.S.-loved brands offer different (and many times better) options in other countries. Kit Kat has a plethora of unique flavors in the UK and Japan, Lay’s sells potato chips that taste like local flavors, and McDonald’s Snack Wrap isn’t discontinued in many parts of the world. So, of course, Haribo offers its global customers something different than its U.S. fans—like Starmix.

Haribo introduced Starmix, a bag of assorted gummies with its Goldbears, Twin Snakes, Happy Cola, Happy Cherries, and Rings, in the U.S. in 2018. However, the U.S. Starmix has always looked a little different from the Starmix Haribo sells globally, which is the brand’s second most popular global seller. The international Starmix features a Fried Egg and Heart candy known for its “foam” layer, which U.S. customers have been begging for for years.

Haribo has heard the pleas and is officially changing its Starmix bag. The double-layered, squishy Fried Egg and Heart are joining the Starmix bag in the U.S. for the first time ever.

Haribo’s new and improved Starmix will finally look like the rest of the world’s with Goldbears, Happy Cola, Gummi Rings, Fried Egg, and Heart. The lemon-flavored Fried Egg and raspberry-flavored gummy Heart offer a new texture only seen in Haribo’s Frogs.

“We’re constantly listening to our fans so we can deliver on what they want most, so we’re thrilled to reveal this highly anticipated update to a classic HARIBO treat,” said Sophia Lewis, the brand manager at Haribo of America. “We did extensive consumer research and concept testing, and the new items truly stood out, giving consumers unique textures, flavors, and shapes all in one bag.”

The half-gummy, half-foam candy will replace Haribo’s Twin Snakes and Happy Cherries in its Starmix, but don't mourn yet. Fans will still be able to find both Twin Snakes and Happy Cherries in standalone bags for purchase.

Haribo’s reformulated Starmix is rolling out to shelves now, where you’ll find it at retailers nationwide alongside Haribo’s robust lineup of Goldbears, Peaches, Fizzy Cola, and Sour S’ghetti.

With this change, we won’t have to save room in our suitcase to stock up on international Starmix on our next vacation, which means more space for Percy Pigs Phizzy Pig Tails and Cadbury-coated Oreos.
