Panera’s menu is filled with fan-loved items, from its baked goods to its decadent mac and cheese, but there’s one thing that the brand will always excel in: bread. It’s the menu item that made the chain famous, after all.
Panera has experimented a lot with its bread offerings over the years. What started as a humble bakery making sourdough has blossomed into a massive restaurant chain with bagels, baguettes, flatbreads, and, of course, bread bowls.
Recently, the chain has begun leaning heavily into its sandwich offerings, with new Asiago Bagel Stack Sandwiches, Ciabatta Dippers, and croissant breakfast sandwiches. Since Panera is offering buttery croissants as its base for bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, it was only a matter of time before the croissants hit the all-day menu.
And now is that time—but Panera is bringing croissants to its sandwich menu in a first-of-its-kind format.
Panera Releases New Croissant Toast
On April 16, Panera is introducing its new Croissant Toast bread, which is sandwich bread made from buttery, flaky croissant dough. You may recall Thomas’ unveiled a version of Croissant Bread in grocery stores in late 2023, but this is the first time the decadent innovation is hitting fast food menus.

The layered, laminated bread is the main component of Panera’s two new sandwiches, which offer the same French-inspired flair: the Croque Monsieur Croissant Toast and Fromage Croissant Toast.
Panera’s new Croque Monsieur Croissant Toast is its take on the cheesy French sandwich made with Black Forest ham, provolone, Asiago, and a caramelized onion-Gruyère spread on the new Croissant Toast. The Fromage Croissant Toast sandwich features provolone, American cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, and garlic aioli on the buttery, toasted bread.
In addition to the new sandwiches, Panera is introducing an all-new salad that’s perfect for spring and summer. Panera’s new Strawberry Caprese Salad includes mixed greens and arugula topped with balsamic vinaigrette, strawberries, fresh mozzarella, basil, and toasted pecans—and can be ordered as-is or with chicken. The new salad will join two returning seasonal fan favorites: the Strawberry Poppyseed Salad and Mexican Corn Chowder.
Panera’s two new sandwiches and salad, as well as the returning salad and soup, will only be on the menu for a limited time. So, if you’re intrigued by Panera’s latest bread innovation, don’t wait too long to head to the restaurant.
