Original recipe (1X) yields 2 servings

  • 2 tablespoons orange zest, salt, and sugar mix (for sugar rim) (optional, see Note)

  • 1 lime wedge

  • 3 ounces tequila

  • 2 ounces fresh-squeezed orange juice

  • 1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice

  • 1 ounce triple sec

  • 1 ounce vanilla ice cream, softened

  • ice as needed

  • 2 slices orange or lemon, for garnish

  • Gather all your ingredients.

  • Mix orange zest, sugar, and salt together on a small plate

  • Rim 2 glasses with lime wedge and rotate in the orange zest mixture.

  • Combine tequila, orange juice, lime juice, triple sec, and ice cream in a cocktail shaker.

  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice and shake very well. Strain into the orange-rimmed glasses and garnish with an orange or lemon slice

    For the sugar rim mixture a classic ratio is 4 parts sugar, 1 part salt, and 1 part orange zest, but you can change the amounts to your liking
