While news of upgraded McCrispy Strips (a hopeful harbinger of the returning snack wrap?) and customized Cotton Candy Sprite has been keeping us on our McFlurry-loving toes, nothing quite compares to McDonald’s Happy Meal releases.
After all, a new McFlurry is great, but Happy Meal toys became an instant sensation—maybe because they don’t require the ice cream machine to be functioning. From Pokémon to Minecraft, the fast food chain knows how to bring out the kid in all of us—and bring fans to the drive-thru.
So, after a successful global run, McDonald’s is finally bringing its Squishmallows partnership back to the Golden Arches for the first time since 2023.
McDonald's Squishmallow Happy Meal Toys Are Back
McDonald’s Squishmallows Happy Meal officially hit menus on May 13 with 12 characters, including a never-before-seen Intergalactic Axolotl named Halley.
In case you don’t have any people in your life begging for Squishmallows, let us explain. Squishmallows are just about the biggest toy in the world right now. They’re soft, squishy plushes that come in a variety of sizes, designs, and shapes—and once you have one, you’ll likely understand why kids and grown adults alike collect them.

McDonald’s Menu Spotter touted the big news, “You’ve waited patiently for two years, and we want to let all collectors know, there’s a new squad on the block that you won’t want to miss out on.”
Gerhard Runken, Executive Vice President of Brand & Marketing at Squishmallow’s parent company, Jazwares, also remarked, “Our first McDonald’s Happy Meal collaboration received such a massive global response that we’re bringing it back by popular demand for Squishmallows fans.”
And those fans were quick to react on social media, with “I NEED THEM ALL!” proclamations and “For sure, going today!” promises.
Of course, while many were focused on which Squishmallow they'll be on the hunt for, others took the chance to add, "But the hunt for the snack wrap release date continues…" We say, as long as we're waiting for snack wraps, at least we have our Squishmallows to keep us company in the meantime. "Brb, running to get my Happy Meal!"
