If you missed the previous Krispy Kreme doughnut collection, prepare yourself for the latest collection. It’s even better. The bakery that frequently changes its limited-time offerings has a brand new trio of doughnuts that will put a smile on the faces of classic video game lovers everywhere.
If the names Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde get your adrenaline going, if you ever took a stack of quarters to an arcade parlor, or, if you ever added classic arcade games to your home entertainment setup, you’ll be excited for the three new doughnuts that Krispy Kreme has waiting for you at its stores (and some grocery stores) this week.
Plus, it’s giving away free or deeply discounted doughnuts during this new collection’s tenure, not just once, not just twice, but three times.
Krispy Kreme Releases New Pac-Man Anniversary Doughnuts
In 1980, Pac-Man took video arcades by storm. The premise was simple: navigate a round yellow Pac-Man through a maze while he’s chased by ghosts. There were a few other things to navigate, but it wasn’t a complicated game. Yet, it was challenging, and even today, kids and adults line up to play the OG game in arcades.
Pac-Man is now 45 years old, and starting May 12, Krispy Kreme is celebrating his birthday with the Krispy Kreme x Pac-Man Collection featuring three new doughnuts in a nostalgic custom Pac-Man dozen box. It’s an a-maze-ing list of flavors:
- Pac-Man Party Doughnut: This Original Glazed Doughnut is piped with yellow buttercreme-flavored icing, sprinkled with celebration sprinkles, and topped with a Pac-Man piece.
- Team Ghost Doughnut: This unglazed shell doughnut is filled with chocolate-flavored Kreme, dipped in black icing, decorated with a Pac-Man maze, and topped with a ghost-themed piece.
- Strawberry Power Berry Doughnut: This unglazed shell doughnut is filled with strawberry flavored Kreme, dipped in red icing, and topped with white sprinkles and green leaf icing.
In addition to the new collection, Krispy Kreme has three opportunities for Pac-Man and doughnut fans alike to get free or discounted doughnuts. From May 12-18 during Hot Light hours, which are 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., or whenever the Hot Light is shining, Krispy Kreme wants to give away 45,000 free Original Glazed doughnuts—no purchase necessary. (Limit one per guest per day in the shop or via drive-thru.) If the bakery achieves its goal, in honor of Pac-Man’s love of fruit, it will unlock the return of Krispy Kreme’s popular Strawberry Glazed Doughnut, which the brand hasn’t offered since 2023.
From May 12-14, Krispy Kreme is transforming its Doughnut Dots into “Pac-Dots” and giving guests a free 10-count with the purchase of any dozen doughnuts at the regular price. And then on Pac-Man’s official birthday, May 22, Krispy Kreme will sell a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just 25 cents with the purchase of any dozen doughnuts. It’s not totally free, but that’s less than one cent a doughnut.
If you don’t live near a Krispy Kreme, select grocery stores, such as Kroger, will also sell a specialty six-pack box with Pac-Man doughnuts. And select Walmart and Target stores will carry the six-pack box, too.
Honestly, it may be a little hard to believe that Pac-Man is 45 years old, but these doughnuts and deals are making the news a little easier (and yummier) to swallow.
