The temperatures are rising, and of all the reasons there are to be excited about that, this may be the best one: There’s a deluge of new and returning cool-you-off-when-you’re-hot treats showing up in the freezer sections of our favorite stores.

Aldi just introduced Cinnamon Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches with Salted Caramel Ice Cream that has shoppers “in love.” The Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream is back at Trader Joe’s, much to everyone’s delight. Tillamook turned to apples for its newly released, limited-time ice cream, Apple Crisp, made with baked oatmeal streusel pieces.

It’s a great time to be an ice cream lover, but it's not the only thing we stuff in our freezers when the weather is warm. There’s a chilly, beloved treat that seemingly disappeared for a while, but now it’s back, and it’s about as refreshing a snack as you can indulge in on a hot day.

Lemon Chill Makes a Comeback

When you think of the most refreshing drinks of summer, a glass of ice-cold lemonade surely is top of mind. Turn that iconic sweet-tart beverage into a frozen treat, and it gets even better.

Lemon Chill, a soft-frozen lemonade born in Texas at fairs and theme parks in 1989, has relaunched in its home state, with plans to expand beyond its borders. In addition to the original lemon flavor, the brand is also launching a strawberry flavor.

"Lemon Chill has always been the MVP frozen treat at stadiums and venues," said Deb McGinnis, Chief Marketing Officer of Lemon Chill. "We're beyond excited to both introduce this fan favorite to a new generation and rekindle fond, nostalgic memories for longtime fans."

The brand's proprietary recipe for its original lemon flavor uses a combination of lemon zest, oil, and peel "to pack the biggest, brightest, punch of authentic lemon flavor." Real strawberry puree is used for the strawberry flavor.

Fans have already taken to Instagram to express their excitement about the comeback. “I used to eat these at Rangers games! Love a Lemon Chill!” one commenter said about the nostalgic brand. Other fans declared the dessert is “delicious and refreshing” and that “it’s gonna hit every time.”

That’s about all we can ask from our frozen treats, isn’t it? They have to hit. And we don’t see how a refreshing frozen lemonade can miss.
