How long is your to-do list? If it’s anything like ours, it’s never-ending and gets longer every single day. It seems the moment we check one thing off, two more tasks get added. Between work, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, doing the dishes from dinner, and the million one-off things on the list, some tasks that aren’t urgent get pushed to the end of the list.

And then…You realize there’s a deadline looming very soon, and there’s a sense of urgency. If you’re one of the many, many, many people who kept putting off getting a Real ID—a federally compliant DMV-issued driver's license, learner permit, or non-driver ID that will soon be required to board domestic flights in the U.S., unless you can show a passport—you may be kicking yourself right now. The May 7 deadline is less than a week away.

We’re not here to scold you, though. We are totally on your side because we understand those long to-do lists. So, does Krispy Kreme. The doughnut shop that currently has the most decadent Craving Cheesecake Collection that marries doughnuts with cheesecake, wants to give you its equivalent of a comforting hug to ease some of your stress.

How to Get a Free Krispy Kreme Doughnut

Krispy Kreme

We don’t usually advocate eating your feelings, but when Krispy Kreme wants to give us free doughnuts to help ease stress, who are we to argue? On Wednesday, May 7, all guests get one free Original Glazed Doughnut, no purchase necessary, no ID required, no stress involved.

We’re not surprised the bakery is giving away soft, pillowy doughnuts covered in a sweet glaze. They are pure comfort food. Krispy Kreme is generous and tends to do this once in a while, like on Election Day or Fat Tuesday.

Even if you have gotten your Real ID, Krispy Kreme will still treat you to a free doughnut. That’s the beauty of it.  You just walk into a participating Krispy Kreme location, ask for your free doughnut, and say thank you. Then you can let the stress of not having your Real ID melt away for a few moments or reward yourself for being on top of things and having that ID in your wallet already.
