Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC, is recalling 29,541 pounds, close to 15 tons, of Chomps Original Beef Sticks because they have the potential to be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The issue was discovered after the firm received two consumer complaints reporting that pieces of metal were found in the product.
The FSIS has this listed as a Class I recall, indicating “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
How To Identify the Recalled Chomps Beef Sticks
The shelf-stable, ready-to-eat beef stick products subject to recall were produced from Jan. 13 to Jan. 15, 2025, and shipped to retail locations in California and Illinois. Additionally, the following details are printed on the labels of the 1.15-ounce vacuum-sealed packages:
- "Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild"
- Expiration date: 02-10-2026
- Lot code: 25016
- Establishment number: 6220A

What To Do if You Purchased the Affected Product
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
To date, no confirmed reports of injury have been reported relating to the consumption of these products. Anyone with concerns about an injury should contact a healthcare provider.
