While I will always stand firm that my Jersey Mike’s order of the #8 Club Sub made Mike’s Way with Hot Chopped Pepper Relish, banana peppers, and pickles on Rosemary Parmesan Bread is the best thing on the menu, I’m not naive to the fact that there are other delicious subs at the chain.

To be honest, I didn’t even know about the rosemary and Parmesan-crusted bread and spicy pepper relish until a Jersey Mike’s order went viral on TikTok. So, it’s clear that there’s still more to learn from the menu—even for a Jersey Mike’s pro like myself.

The sandwich chain is beloved by many—celebrities like Nick Jonas included—and, much like any fast food restaurant, everyone has their unique way of ordering and eating their favorite sub. I like to load my sandwich up with those tasty, tangy pickled extras; Jonas likes to build his own off-menu sub; and TikTok creator @_bossvin likes his tuna sub “Vinny’s Way,” topped with all the pickled goodies, honey mustard, and his favorite potato chips.

Now, another TikTok user has sparked a Jersey Mike’s trend after sharing her way of eating the sub—and it isn’t because of the toppings. TikToker @elizabethphiatt97 shared a video of herself eating a Jersey Mike’s sub cut into smaller strips to dip into a side of oil and vinegar.

TikTok's Jersey Mike's Sub Hack to Avoid Soggy Bread

Ok, bear with me on this one because I thought the "hack" looked pretty unhinged, too. However, after thinking about it for a second—and then trying it—I realized it’s actually genius.

Jersey Mike’s fans know that the only downside to ordering a sub Mike’s Way, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, and salt, is that the bread can turn soggy quickly—especially when getting takeout. So, by ordering the olive oil and red wine vinegar on the side and dipping your sandwich directly into the delicious mixture, you get the same flavors without ruining the integrity of the bread.

Cutting the sandwich into smaller, bite-sized strips isn’t technically necessary, but it does make dipping into the small cup of oil and vinegar a little bit easier.

"I think you just changed my life," one user commented on the video.

“Wait they’re so cute,” the official Jersey Mike’s TikTok added.

After trying this method, I can attest that it’s one of the best ways to prevent your sandwich from getting soggy as you transport it from the restaurant to your house. I’m not sure I would do it if I were dining at Jersey Mike’s, but it’s nice to have the option.

One thing to note: You can’t order a side of oil and vinegar online, so you’ll have to go to the restaurant to try the hack and ask the employee for a side of the dressing.

My only complaint about the bite-sized pieces is that, while the bread stays structural, the rest of the ingredients don’t. The smaller pieces make it easier for the meats and toppings to squeeze out of the bread when you take a bite.

Will this change how I order my go-to sandwich from now on? Probably not. But next time I try a sandwich loaded with other wet ingredients—like Vinny’s tuna fish sub—it will definitely save my meal from falling apart before I can even eat it.
