We’re guessing that even some of McDonald’s biggest fans may be unaware that the fast food chain known for its Big Macs and Happy Meals also hosts the McDonald’s All American Games (McDAAG) each spring. So, what are they, you ask? It’s a basketball tournament showcasing the country’s top high school basketball talent that’s been around for almost 50 years.
This year, the games are coming to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center—home of the New York Nets—for the first time on April 1. To kick off the games, McDonald’s is rolling out a limited-edition hoop-filled meal to get future all-stars excited about the game of basketball.
The McDAAG Happy Meal
In the nearly 50 years that McD’s has been putting on the All American Games, it had never featured the annual game in a Happy Meal before. That all changes on March 11, when McDonald’s is rolling out an all-new McDAAG-inspired Happy Meal, featuring a 2025 McDAAG jersey on the box and a selection of six basketball hoop toys like a mini basketball, stickers, and custom packaging for apple slices and milk. Each Happy Meal will also contain a QR code that unlocks an integrated digital pop-a-shot game.
While kids enjoy their McNuggets or cheeseburgers, they’ll also learn about McDonald’s historic legacy with the sport and some of its greatest players from past years, such as Carmelo Anthony, Angel Reese, Sabrina Ionescu, and Aaron Gordon, who all went on to play pro ball after participating in the McDAAG.
Additionally, head on over to HappyMeal.com, whether or not you’ve purchased a Happy Meal, for downloadable activity sheets that feature word searches and the opportunity to decorate your own jersey.
All of this sounds like plenty of fun for kids and perhaps gives their parents a moment to enjoy their own Happy Meal of sorts, like the Angel Reese Special, which includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese, medium fries, and a medium drink. It’s the restaurant’s first national meal collaboration with a female athlete, and it’s perfectly timed for the McDonald’s All American Games.
