We are pursuing targeted delivery of various modalities of drug candidates to specific cells and tissues. To accomplish this, we collaborate with colleagues in the Neuroscience, Immunology, Diabetes and Complications, Oncology, ADME, Toxicology and clinical development organizations. We are looking for someone experienced in implementing biological model systems to study targeted delivery of oligonucleotide therapeutics and other cargo. The successful candidate will be a functional area lead on relevant projects and will work collaboratively with chemists, engineers, and other therapeutic and functional area experts to build and perform on a strategy for cell-specific delivery. The candidate will be accountable for the development and implementation of in vitro and in vivo model systems to enable testing applications for targeted delivery to extrahepatic tissues, with the goal of advancing targeted molecules to clinical development.Specifically, you will have an opportunity to:Generate impactful data focused on achieving and improving productive delivery, leading to prioritization of delivery targets and selection of biologic molecules for advancement in the drug discovery process.Develop broad expertise across therapeutic areas by developing novel approaches to assess oligonucleotide delivery to neurons, immune cells, pancreatic beta cells and other cells/tissues.Build a deep understanding of transport and targeted delivery by focusing on diverse mechanisms of delivery and transport of biologics across the gastrointestinal barrier and/or blood brain barrier.Surround yourself with and learn from versatile experts across fields in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of scientists and research associates.Present findings at conferences and publish in high quality peer-reviewed journals.This position will be embedded in BioTDR’s Biotherapeutic Enabling Biology team within Lilly’s Medicines Innovation Hub (MIH), which serves as a groundbreaking scientific center working across all disease areas to identify and develop quality targets, hits, leads, and clinical drug candidates. Apply today and join our team of outstanding employees striving to make an impact in the lives of patients around the world!Basic QualificationsPhD in a biology-related field such as cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, pharmacology.At least 2 years of post-PhD experience (can include postdoctoral research), preferably in biotech or pharmaceutical industry.Additional Skills/PreferencesMultidisciplinary scientist with experience performing in vitro or in vivo studies using therapeutic molecules and endpoints focused on expression, mechanism, and function.Ability to design approaches and assays to successfully distinguish and differentiate molecules based on desired attributes.Research experience or training in oligonucleotide biology and pharmacology.Experience in using stem-loop qPCR or other molecular biology approaches to quantitate small RNAs from in vivo tissue.Creative thinker and innovative problem solver with the ability to integrate and apply diverse pieces of information to projects.Utilization of targeting ligands (like antibodies) to achieve cell-specific delivery of oligonucleotides or other cargo.Ability to work independently and be accountable for results in a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team setting.Leadership through scientific prowess as demonstrated by the ability to deliver impactful data and ideas that impact business decisions and outcomes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Eli Lilly and Company, Lilly USA, LLC and our wholly owned subsidiaries (collectively “Lilly”) are committed to help individuals with disabilities to participate in the workforce and ensure equal opportunity to compete for jobs.
