This role resides within the Global Manufacturing HSE team. The primary responsibilities of the role are to provide technical expertise and support to Manufacturing sites related to environmental compliance and performance. The position will work closely with sites to develop, execute, maintain, and improve environmental control strategies, and help identify and reduce our most significant environmental risks.  Responsibilities:The primary responsibilities of the role are to provide technical expertise and support to Manufacturing sites related to environmental compliance and performance, manage global air emission data, and oversee negotiation of air permits for major permit changes for US/PR facilities.  The position will work closely with sites to develop, execute, maintain, and improve environmental control strategies, and help identify and reduce our most significant environmental risks.  The role will assist in developing functional capability at the site level.Provide technical and regulatory environmental support to sites regarding environmental controls and compliance strategies, including ongoing execution and improvement of environmental control strategies and environmental data quality (i.e., calculations, laboratory analysis, monitoring, etc.). This includes technical oversight for the company environmental capability assessment (ECA) program and environmental calculations, and promotion of techniques to reduce special cause variability. Assist new sites in obtaining environmental permits and identifying and implementing operational and engineering controls. For air emissions, provide sites support to implement (1) compliance requirements, (2) the Lilly Environmental Standard, (3) air related data collection, and (4) global HSE expectations (e.g., global environmental goals, self-assessments, global audit program, metric reporting).  All of these will be pursued with a focus that ensures compliance while maximizing operational flexibility.  In addition, for air permits in Indiana and PR, this role will oversee negotiations for major permit changes with agencies. Provide mentoring to environmental and engineering functions to further develop capability within each on environmental programs and tools, operational control strategies, and risk reduction methodologies.Provide secondary loop site support for environmental programs, support major capital projects at the request of sites, and identify and assist in projects to reduce risk and gain efficiencies. 
Basic Requirements:BS in engineering, science, environmental management, or natural resourcesMinimum 8 years experience in an environmental or regulatory roleAdditional Skills/Preferences:Chemical engineering degreeFamiliarity with GMP requirementsExcellent technical writing skillsProven informal leadership skillsStrong planning and organizing skillsCommunication and collaboration skills capable of influencing internal and external stakeholdersMentoring skills
