 Responsibilities The candidate selected as the Associate Director – Lilly Diabetes Corporate Affairs will support products and programs in Lilly’s diabetes business. The candidate will be an integral part of a cross-functional launch team where communications will play a defining role in launching one of the most anticipated treatments in diabetes. Responsibilities will include traditional and non-traditional communications, including issues management and consumer-focused programs as well as data and regulatory milestone communications.The candidate will report to the Associate Vice President of the Business Unit Corporate Affairs (BUCA) team that operates within corporate affairs while supporting the Lilly Diabetes business. The Associate Director will work with U.S. and global business colleagues in Lilly Diabetes as well as with cross-functional colleagues within the Diabetes BUCA, such as those supporting patient advocacy and environmental shaping, as well as those in Corporate Communications, Executive Communications, Corporate Digital and Social Media, Employee Communications, Investor Relations and Global Corporate Affairs. The candidate must approach the work with a Team Lilly mindset – in other words, be flexible and find ways to support the greater good.Specific responsibilities include:Communications support for Diabetes Products, with a particular focus on indications for type 2 diabetes and, longer term, obesity. Responsibilities include support of data and regulatory milestones as well as branded product communications campaigns.
Support environmental shaping communications, positioning the new product as an important new glucose-lowering treatment that may also help people living with obesity.Employee communications support for Lilly Diabetes, including videos, leadership messages and town hall support.Miscellaneous support including writing, issues management and strategic thinking.General responsibilities include:Media training, communications counsel and coaching internal business partners.Manage day-to-day work with our PR agencies.Anticipate, prioritize, and prepare to manage possible negative issues in the media.Develop and edit communications for media such as press releases, internal Q&As, videos and fact sheets.Develop and edit communications for internal use (newsletters, videos, emails, speeches, etc.).Conduct and/or facilitate interviews with local, national, and international media outletsPartner with communications contacts in our global affiliatesAssist with other communications projects as assigned.Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related fieldFive years of communications experience (journalism, public relations, other communications roles, etc.) with a strong understanding of both traditional and social media and a vision for new innovative ways of communicating.Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
