 Responsibilities The Senior Director – Communication Environment Shaping (CES) is a critical member of the Lilly Diabetes Corporate Affairs U.S. and OUS cross-functional environment shaping team. The position will work across the drug portfolio to lead assigned environment shaping initiatives supporting type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other metabolic conditions. The position provides strategic support to other corporate affairs team members as well as cross-functionally with organizations including marketing, medical, medical affairs, legal, ethics and compliance, etc.   The candidate will report to the Associate Vice President of the Business Unit Corporate Affairs (BUCA) team that operates within corporate affairs while supporting the Lilly Diabetes business. The Senior Director will work with U.S. and global business colleagues in Lilly Diabetes as well as with cross-functional colleagues within Lilly Diabetes Corporate Affairs, such as those supporting patient advocacy as well as those in Corporate Communications, Executive Communications, Corporate Digital and Social Media, Employee Communications, Investor Relations and Global Corporate Affairs. The candidate must approach the work with a Team Lilly mindset – in other words, be flexible and find ways to support the greater good.Specific Responsibilities:Develop and lead communications disease state and consumer campaigns for patients, caregivers, and health care teams that ladder back to business strategic objectives.In partnership with marketing, lead influencer campaign around type 2 diabetes and obesity and other metabolic conditions.Develop and place key communications in the field to support environment shaping campaigns that align to key strategic prioritiesWork with internal teams on patient stories and digital amplification strategies.Set the annual communications environment shaping agenda for Lilly Diabetes. This includes identifying and aligning on top disease-state policy priorities, developing integrated plans for cross-functional execution.Develop a deep understanding of brand, medical and business objectives and develop communications solutions that deliver on Lilly Diabetes strategic goals.Work externally to advance environment shaping campaigns with national, top-tier communication organizations.Enhance the Lilly brands by exemplifying Lilly values and brand characteristics – both in personal conduct and in the design and implementation of collaborations.With Lilly U.S. and OUS Advocacy & Professional Relations, identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of advocacy groups through communications.Build strong internal and external working relationships with key external stakeholders to meet type 2 diabetes and obesity environment shaping objectives.Work with legal and compliance functions to outline appropriate guardrails related to influencing the external environmentBasic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field7+ years of communications experienceExperience developing and executing communication environment shaping campaigns – including working with top-tier media outlets, partnering with patient advocacy organizations, and digital amplificationQualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
