Job Summary

AECOM is in need of an Estimator – Structural/Civil/Architectural to work with our client TTC on some of their high-profile public Transit projects.

The job incumbent will be offered a regular, full-time position with AECOM and work on secondment to TTC. The secondment is expected to last a year, with a chance of extension. The employee will return to AECOM to be reassigned to another project when the secondment is complete.

Candidate will report for work at the TTC office a few times a week for the length of the secondment (COVID safety allowing.) The home office for the employee at that time will be the AECOM Markham office but you will most likely work from home.

This is a sourcing req meant to build a pipeline of talent to work for AECOM on secondment to our major client TTC.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Estimating, Supervisor of Estimating and Assigned Lead Senior Estimators, this position is responsible for preparing various types of structural/civil/architectural construction cost estimates assigned for the EC&E Group projects in support of the Capital Program. Cost estimates will be required for complex above and below grade structures, tunnels and buildings with extensive temporary construction site works, finishes, utilities and services for new construction and repair/renovation projects for rapid transit facilities and operating system elements.

The individual shall also be required to:

Prepare order-of-magnitude, conceptual, feasibility, pre-design, budget, value

engineering, control, definitive, Engineer’s estimates, and major change order

estimates.

Prepare cost breakdown documents for progress payments and detailed

quantity surveys from analysis of contract drawings and specifications.

Prepare basis of estimate documentation for inclusion into reports.

Analyze and report on cost breakdowns and price schedules submitted by

contractors subsequent to tender closing.

Preparing cost variance reports, tender comparisons, post bid analysis, cost

reduction strategies and recommendations.

Maintain current construction cost data based on historical costs, market

research and indices in the application of the computerized cost estimating system.

Assist in the preparation of annual fixed facilities replacement cost reports for all

TTC owned buildings and structures.

Project Teams for inclusion into detailed schedules and cash flows.

Liaise with various E&C Branch management and staff, other TTC Branches,

external agencies, consultants and suppliers to obtain facts and cost

information pertinent to the performance of the estimating work.

Review and comment on foreign cost estimates to ensure accuracy,

comprehensiveness and consistency within the E&C Branch estimating

guidelines and procedures.

Maintain files and records of work.

Minimum Requirements

A University degree in Engineering or Architecture.

OR, if a candidate does not have this, a College Diploma in Engineering or Architectural Technology or Construction Management + 2 years of related work experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Structural/Civil/Architectural Estimating experience.
