AECOM is seeking an experienced scientist to join our Annapolis Junction, MD office. The successful candidate will work independently or with a team to task manage various environmental assessment field activities including soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installations, contractor oversight, air sampling, and remedial system operations.
Additionally, task manage various reporting aspects including data tabulations and evaluations, figure development, bid documents, and technical writing.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Assisting in the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects, including preliminary assessments, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site/remedial investigations, environmental monitoring/sampling, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater sampling.
Candidate will perform field sampling activities and demonstrate proficiency with field instrumentation and equipment while working on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills in a variety of environmental settings.
Assist in preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums and analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.
Assist in preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations).
Perform independent hands-on fieldwork, oversee contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors), and other field personnel, and interact with clients/client representatives.
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

BA/BS degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology plus2+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to safely drive a full size pick up truck.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Basic computer proficiency, ability to use Microsoft office suite products.
Ability and eagerness to perform field activities and work under the direction of a senior geologist.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Current OSHA HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
