Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an ambitious Civil Project Coordinator or coordinator to work with a fast paced railway client to manage challenging projects across Western Canada. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining vital railway operations and leading execution on large and small capital expansion projects. A successful candidate would coordinate interdisciplinary teams across company departments, contractor forces, and consulting firms.

This position will be based out of our railway client’s Edmonton office but is currently remote. Note that this is a federally regulated client obligated to follow federal COVID-19 vaccination mandates. Criminal background check is required.

The successful applicant will have the following responsibilities

Work independently with minimal guidance except for complex and unusual situations.

Prepare and administer multiple Tender Packages for projects across Western Canada simultaneously.

Multi-task and balance constantly evolving priorities, remaining highly organized at all times.

Summarize and evaluate bids, assisting Project Managers to select successful proponents.

Liaise with Contractors, Consultants, and Internal Stakeholders, including addressing RFIs, claims, progress payments, disputes.

Maintain and control project documentation and records, including ensuring all project close documentation is on file.

Review civil engineering designs for compliance with the applicable standards and provide actionable recommendations to the Engineer.

Performs site visits to monitor progress and to interface with stakeholders to ensure the Client’s interests are protected.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience in experience in civil design, construction, project coordination, and/or project management OR Technical Diploma + 4 years of relevant experience in civil design, construction, project coordination, and/or project management OR Highschool + 6 years of relevant experience in civil design, construction, project coordination, and/or project management – all in infrastructure related projects

Driving license

The selected candidate will be required to obtain a E-rail Safe certification, after beginning work.

Preferred Qualifications

CET, EIT, P. Eng is an asset

CP, CN, or Transportation related experience is ideal

Experience with contracts administration, construction and/ or project management on heavy civil projects.

Proficiency with MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook
